The real cost of a paper card
Paper is quick in the bay. The cost lands later: the card is re-read, retyped, mislaid, or the notes are too thin to price the job confidently.
By the time a query comes back three weeks later, the card is in a folder and the detail is gone.
What a good digital card holds
Enough to price and defend the job, and no more.
- Vehicle and customer on the record
- Reported fault and what was found
- Work carried out and by whom
- Parts used and parts awaited
- Additional work and when it was approved
Getting the workshop to use it
Introduce it on one bay first and fix the friction that appears in the first week. If entry takes longer than the paper card did, shorten what you ask for.
