Who published this and why it matters
Mozomay builds garage management software, so this is not independent editorial. What follows is the criteria we would use if we were buying, written so it is still useful if you choose someone else.
We do not publish competitor prices or feature claims here. Those change, and second-hand comparisons are usually out of date.
The categories you are choosing between
Broadly, UK garages choose between long-established workshop systems, general-purpose invoicing or job tools adapted to garages, and newer garage-specific platforms.
Each trades something. Established systems are deep but often heavy to learn. General tools are cheap but leave the vehicle side to you. Newer platforms are faster to use but you should check the parts of the job you rely on most.
Selection criteria
Score every shortlisted system against the same list.
- Speed of the ten actions you repeat daily
- Whether the estimate, the parts and the invoice sit on one job
- Vehicle lookup and MOT visibility for UK vehicles
- How the workshop day is shown
- Total cost including setup, per-user and add-on charges
- Who onboards you and what support looks like afterwards
- Contract length and how you leave with your data
Decision framework
- Shortlist three systems, no more.
- Run the same three real jobs through each demo.
- Ask each supplier what their software is not good at.
- Get total monthly cost in writing, including setup.
- Involve one technician in the final decision.
